canadian passport: flying to kualumpur via shanghai

Question

HiI have Canadian passport. Flying from Dubai to Kualalumpur with 8+ hours layover in Shanghai. I want to go into Shanghai city and spend around 4 hours to look around. What type of visa I need and how to get it?If you can suggest any 4-5 hours tour or direct me to any tour operator that would be great. ThanksRauf

Your trip qualifies for the 24h direct transit in Shanghai, but leaving the airport is no longer possible if your layover is less than 24 hours regardless of nationality. Some reported that bringing a hotel reservation will help, so you can give it a try.
