About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Are we eligible for the 72 hour visa?

My friend and I will be in Hong Kong for 3 days and then fly to Beijing. Three days later I fly to New York connecting in Hong Kong (on Cathay Dragon) and Doha (on Qatar) and my friend flies to Los Angeles connecting in Hong Kong (on Cathay Dragon and American).
Are each of us eligible for the 72 hour twov?

There is no such thing as a "72 hour visa" in Beijing. There is 144 hours transit without visa, but neither of you are in transit so you don't qualify. You need visas in advance or different flights.
