What happens if I plan to stay 3 months in China but only allowed 30days

Hi I was wondering what happens if I plan a long trip to visa but am only allowed to stay like 30days at a time with a 10 year multiple entry visa. Can I exit to hongkong for the day and come
Back for another 30 days?
