About:China Visa Exemption

Filipino tourist - Toronto Canada - Philippines stop over in Shanghai

I am a Filipino, I’am going back to the Philippines this coming October 2018. However, I got an information from China Eastern Airlines that my flight schedule changed. I have to wait fo4 24 hours for my next flight going to Manila. And they told me that I need a visa because I am holder of Philippine passport. They said that a Philippine passport holder is not exempted for 24 hour free transit. Is that correct? Do I really need to get visa even if I will just stay in the airport to wait for my next flight.
Please let me know the process if you stay in Shanghai airport for 24 hours.

Based on what I know, the Philippine passport holder is exempted for 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai. If you doubt, you can check the information from Timatic, an IATA database which airlines use.
