About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

layover. I am planning a trip to Shanghai and then to Thailand.

Hey,

The route as follows : Warsaw-(Beijing)-Shanghai-Thailand-Warsaw. I was wondering if this teeny tiny stop in beijing (3 hours long layover, not planning to apply for any visa there just gonna be waiting for my layover) will affect my right to get the free transit exemption. Technically I am gonna use free transit exemption just in shanghai but the flight requires this short stop in beijing. What do you guys think?

That route does not qualify for 144 hours transit without visa. The stop in Beijing immediately limits you to 24 hours direct transit in China.

Um that's a shame. How about another stops on my way but instead of Beijing it would be Moscow? That's fine right? it doesn't have to be a layover-less flight, just that layover cannot take place within Mainland China, correct?

Correct. Moscow-Beijing-Thailand would qualify. But you are not allowed any other stops in mainland China, even if you don't leave the airport or even the aircraft.
