About:Hainan 30-Day Visa-Free Access

We are travelling Sydney to Hainan on China Southern Airlines

We have 3 hour stop in Canton. We will spend 1 night in Haikou and have not booked yet. We have booked a resort in Sanya for 1 week through Living Social on line - do we need a visa?
