About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

we are on Celebrity millenium berthing in Shanghai mid Nov 2018

Our itinerary has Japanese ports before and after, does the 144 HR exception apply and will there be any problems getting thru immigration for private sightseeing and shopping

If you are traveling Country A - Shanghai (144 hours) - Country B then you don't need to apply for a visa as you can use 144h twov in Shanghai.
