About:China Visa

flight is US - Shanghai - Kunming - Myanmar may I eligible for 144hr transit visa in Shanghai?

Hello I am US passport holder and will be traveling from USA to Myanmar. my flight is Chicago ORD - Shanghai Pudong - Kunming KMG - Myanmar RGN . I only want to visit Shanghai during layover (21hr layover in Shanghai) .So, may I eligible 144hr free transit for Shanghai?

You are not eligible for 144hr free transit in Shanghai. But if your total layover time in Shanghai and Kunming is less than 24 hours, you can use 24h twov in China. In this case, leaving the Shanghai airport is no longer possible if your layover is less than 24 hours regardless of nationality. Some reported that bringing a hotel reservation will help. If you do not intend to leave the airport then you are fine.
