Liaoning 144 hour visa free

Can I get a free transit visit to Shanyang for the purpose of visiting my son using a round trip ticket from Canada?

If you would travel like Canada-shenyang-Canada, you won't qualify for the 144h twov in there for the trip is not a transit.
