About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

Hello,
I’d like to visit Guilin for less than 48 hs from Hong Kong where I work and live. My plan is to take the Mtr till Shenzhen and then the train from Shenzhen to Guilin. Is the 72-hours twov valid even if I come with train and not by plane?
