About:Hainan 30-Day Visa-Free Access

I am a Canadian doing a cruise in November. Do I need a Chinese visa?

My flight back home is from Singapore with transfer in Shangai. We will be only at the airport for about 5 hours.

So your route is Singapore - SH- Canada? In that case, no visa is needed, and you are eligible for the 24-hour free-visa transit.
