About:144-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

Do US Citizens exiting a cruise ship that visited Japan & South Korea need a visa to see Shanghai?

The cruise ship is not non-stop. It visits ports in Japan and South Korea before arriving in Shanghai. We would like to spend a few days in Shanghai and the surrounding eligible area that allow the 144 hour free visa before flying out of Shanghai (Pu Dong Airport). Do we qualify for the 144 hour free visa?

If you then go to the third country, you will qualify for the 144 hour free visa transit.
