Can I transfer from an M to Z Visa while in China?

Hello I recently received a job offer to work in Guangzhou at a vocational college. I currently have a multiple entry business M. The school says that I will come to China on the visa I already have then they'll transfer me to a Z after I arrive. They haven't sent me an invitation letter or anything like that. I would like to know if it's possible to change from a Ten year M to Z in China? I'll add that I'm a US citizen with a Bachelor's Degree and more than 2 years of teaching experience.

It's possible for you to transfer from an M to Z type at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB while in China. You can have a try.

Hi, if you would make the application from the China embassy in Cameroon, usually, you need to pay XAF50,000 per person for that. Just for reference.
