transiting beijing to mongolia from usa

HelloIm flying out tonight from the US to Mongolia and transiting Beijing with a 4.5 hour layover and a 1Hr layover on my return on the 28th. I know I do not need a visa to enter Mongolia for 10 days but there are questions being raised and challenged about transting China as far as entry permit is concerned. Do I or do I not need a visa for China to just transit through?Thanks in advance...

You don't need a visa for Beijing because you can use 24h twov in there in both trips.

Thank you and is that something you have to obtain and or fill out at the airport in Beijing? Even though I wouldn’t be going through immigration?

You do not have to deal with immigration if your bags are tagged to the final destination. You may have to get new boarding passes before going through airside security.
