Transit visa when arriving by train from Mongolia

Hello, I am looking to get a transit visa through Beijing when arriving from Ulaan Baator, Mongolia. Is this possible and what procedure do I need to follow?

My proposed itinerary would look like UB -train> Beijing ( HK

You can't get free transit in Beijing as trains to/from Mongolia arrive/depart from Beijing Railway Station and this station is not a port of entry/exit for the Beijing free transit. You should apply for a visa for that trip beforehand.
