My girlfriend from Thailand

My girlfriend from Thailand has an L visa for 10 days with 2 entries. I am a foreigner as well. Can she go to Hong Kong before the expiry and come back to China and apply for her extension upon arrival to stay longer?

She can try to extend the L type at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB within China. If it can be done, there is no need to go to HK for that.
