About:Policy for Foreigners with Immediate Family Living in China

have a work visa

my Chinese wife and I are divorced, we have a 6 year old son, I am currently in China on a work visa but that will stop shortly, can I get a family via to stay with my son?

Yes. You can try to change the work Z type into a family visa at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB.
