About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Tourist visa to residence permit

Is it possible to arrive in China on a tourist L and then transfer to a residence permit once in Beijing with the jw202 form and uni invitation letter (for 1 year study)?

You can try to convert the L type into work Z type at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB within China. If it can succeed, you can apply for the Chinese residence permit then.
