About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Eligible for transfer?

I'm a Dutch citizen. Planning to book a roundflight from The Netherlands to Hong Kong via an 8 hour transfer in Beijing or Shanghai. I got banned for overstaying my visa in the past.
Will I have a trouble with my transfer, will customs allow me to stay in the airport waiting for my transfer?

Your travel route qualifies for the free transit policy, but the bans you got for overstaying might affect that. You are advised to apply for a visa for that trip beforehand.

There will be a 5-year ban on you. Best to apply for a transit visa.
