HiI have booked China Eastern Return Air Ticket LAX to CCU Two stop ticket.From Lax I am arriving 6 am Shanghai-Pu Dong, then leaving Kuming at 11.35 pm on same day within 24 hours.  In my case please guide me if I need transit visa or not.Best RegardsSincerely,Amitava Ghosh

According to what I know, you can not apply for the 72-hour or 144-hour visa free transit if you hold India passport. You are suggested to apply for the China tourist visa in advance before your departure.

I am not confused some authorities saying as I am not going out from the port and I am leaving China before 24 hours that case no Visa Required.Please let me know.Thank youAmitava

You do not need to apply for the visa if you do not plan to get out of the airport during the layover.
