About:China Transit Visa

Eligible for visa free transit

Hi, I'm an Iranian citizen travelling to Sydney (Australia) by China Southern Airlines. My flight has 2 stops in Beijing and Guangzhou in China. I have to stay 2h50 in Beijing and 1h50 in Guangzhou and then I will travel to Sydney. Do I need to get a transit G of China?

Regards

Yes, you need to apply for it before your trip as you are not eligible for the 24h twov in mainland China.

From my recent experience transiting Guangzhou to/from Australia on China Southern in May 2018, you will not have enough time to exit either airport and do anything other than turn around and re-enter. Sadly, there is little to do within the international terminal other than eat, drink and enjoy the free wifi. Ok for 2 hrs, not so great for 7 hrs 45min when you are not allowed to take advantage of the 24 hour visa free transit because one's transit was <8 hrs. Very ignorant and rude immigration/customs staff. All other airport staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
