I am traveling from Las Vegas to Bangkok with a stopover in Beijing for 4 days.

What type of visa do I need. Can I obtain that before I depart. Does the time start in Beijing when I arrive or the next day

You can enjoy 144h twov in Beijing, and the time is calculated from scheduled arrival time to scheduled departure time. No visa will be needed if you go there for less than 144 hours.
