About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

Sfo to Las Vegas to Beijing, and then Beijing to Las Vegas to SFO

Will this itinerary qualify me for the 72 hour transit visa?

Its not a visa. Its a transit without a visa and you don't qualify since you are not in transit. You need to apply for the Tourist (L) Visa from the Chinese consulate prior to your trip. The visa will then be valid for 10 years as long as you have more then 1 hear remaining on your passport
