About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Will I need a visa for the following

My itinerary is as follows, LAX to Taipei, Taipei to Shanghai (5 Days), Shanghai to Hong Kong (24 hours). I know that TWOV is extended for additional days in the larger cities such as Shanghai. I'm apprehensive those and not certain if i will or will not need entry permit. Can you help answer this question?

Yes for twov purposes you are traveling Taiwan > Shanghai > Hong Kong and is allowed under the 144 hour twov. The time starts counting the midnight after arrival so date of arrival doesn't count towards the 144 hours. They should really call it a 6 day transit without visa
