How do I obtain visa for 1 day visit from Hong Kong to Shenzhen via train? How much does it cost? I am from USA

You can apply for tourist L type for that at the office of the commissioner of the ministry of foreign affairs of PRC in HK SAR. You may need to pay HKD1,100 for that.
