What do I need to apply for a new passport at the South-African Embassy in Shanghai? It is almost full. Can I, when applying for a new passport, apply for a new visa too?

You may need to prepare your passport, a completed application form, passport-style photos, your ID card, residence permit in China, as well as other documents the consular officers consider necessary. Maybe you cannot apply for a new visa when applying for the passport, I guess.
