About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Transit visa. I'm travelling from London to Hong Kong to Shanghai, back to London.

Will be in Shanghai for 60 hours on business. Can I use the free transit system or should I apply for a normal entry permit?

If you fly non-stop from Shanghai to London you won’t need a visa (assuming uk passport). But if your return flight stops in Hong Kong or another city in China then you need a visa.
