22 hours staying in beijing. do i need a visa?

US citizen traveling to Mongolia. transfer in Beijing and staying 22 hours.  also can i go out to see Beijing?

If you’re going to Mongolia by train then you need a visa. If you’re flying then you don’t. Either way you should be able to leave the airport for a few hours.
