About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

2 day stopover in Guangzhou followed by flight to Scotland via Beijing

I am an Australian citizen and will be flying to Scotland. I plan to stopover for 2 days in Guangzhou to visit family, and then I will be flying to Scotland via Beijing (2 hour stopover - won't be leaving the airport). Am I still eligible for the 72 hours free transit?

So I have to fly from Guangzhou to Edinburgh and there are no direct flights (therefore requiring a brief transit through Beijing). So I will not need to leave the airport in Beijing but i will probably have to transfer from the domestic to international terminal. So just to clarify - I will definitely need to get a visa for this?

Yes, you definitely need a visa or you must change your flights.

More than one stop in China is limited to the 24 hour direct transit. You will need a visa for this.

to add, it's because Flight to Beijing is domestic flight and you are not to leave the Guangdong province on a TWOV unless its an international direct flight.
