About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Weekend trip

If I wanted to do a sub 72hr visit to an eligible city but was coming from and going back to the same city (Tokyo-Shanghai-Tokyo), does this disqualify me from the 72hr free transit?

Yes it disqualify you as you have to fly country A - China - country B.
