Where do I apply for visa and the best way to go about this

I live in Waynesboro Mississippi i'm wanting to go to Shanghai China to meet a woman I have a passport but I hear that I need a visa to go to China

Hi, you need to make the application from the Chinese consulate in Huston. First, you need to provide a filled-out application form affixed with a passport-style photo, your passport and its photocopy, round trip air tickets and hotel reservation or an invitation letter from your friend in mainland China. Then, submit the application to the consulate to apply for a tourist L type.
