Applying visa. I am currently a student and my visa expires in august the 1st.

I want to extend it for more 30 days, and I don't have a balance of 21,000 in my account. I am planning to extend it and travel more in China, will that be possible to get a new one within china or i'll have to go out (to Hong Kong for example)?
In late July I will be traveling in Guangzhou but my student X was issued in Shanghai, so how much of a problem would that form?
