About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Is this okay for 144 Hr. visa free

If I fly from my home country (C) and change planes in Hong Kong (A) on my way to Shanghai (B) for 5 days, can I fly back from Shanghai to my home country (C) under the 144 h visa transit. Or do I have to stay overnight in Hong Kong?

There's no need to clear immigration in HK. However, keep in mind that third country-Hong Kong-Shanghai-Hong Kong-third country is a no-no for any type of transit because it isn't transit. If you want to utilize the 144-hour TWOV, then you have to fly from Shanghai to your home country without any kind of stopover in HK or Mainland China.
