How do I stop overthinking everything and trust that things will be okay?

I’ve been an overthinker pretty much my whole life. I worry about everything, even when I know I shouldn’t. I keep telling myself to relax and let things happen, but my mind just won’t chill. I’m always second-guessing myself and stressing over things that probably don’t even matter.

I really want to get to a place where I can trust that life will work out and just enjoy things more instead of constantly being on edge. I’m trying, but it’s hard to let go of that “what if?” feeling.

If anyone has advice, tips, or even personal experiences on how you learned to calm your mind and stop overthinking so much, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks.

In my opinion, as a fellow overthinker:
1. Write down good things that have happened in your life. Be specific. Do it consistently (weekly, daily, mothly, at least yearly). Then you will see that favourable events happen to you too, not just unfavourable ones.
2. Write down your strengths and weaknesses. This way, you will have time to contemplate yourself *realistically*, not all positive or negative. This helps anchor you. It helps me quite a lot.
3. Write down your past achievements. You will be reminded that you have succeeded at multiple things.
4. Take care of your physical health. First and foremost, get a quality sleep each night. Good nutrition and regular exercise are important, but sleep directly impacts our mental and emotional well-being.
5. Set a time to just relax. Even if it's 10 minutes before bed. Calming yourself with pleasant music, warm water, or things you don't have to strain yourself doing.

Hope these gradually help. The healing journey isn't linear, but the point is you are learning a skill to take care of yourself. Cheers.
