Your two stops in Chengdu and Qingdao immediately limit you to 24 hours in China. If your total layover time in mainland China is within 24 hours, you can enjoy 24 hr direct transit.

You cannot use the 72 hr free transit. If the total transit time in Chengdu and Qingdao is not exceed 24 hours, you can use the 24 hr one. No visa is needed, either. Otherwise, you need a visa for the trip beforehand.
