About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

3rd Country Necessary?

Can I fly from Bangkok to Beijing, stay in Beijing for less than 144 hours, then fly back to Bangkok?
(USA citizen)

Of course it is necessary. It's called "visa-free transit", buddy, not "visa-free visit".
