You can take the high speed train and make a transfer at Guiyang. There are many trains connecting Guilin and Guiyang and the schedule is 09:40 - 21:00 (Departure time) and the duration is around 2 - 3 hours. When you transfer at the Guiyang, some pairs of trains between Guiyang and Kaili depart from about 07:00 to 21:00 and take about 40 minutes to one hour.
