About:China Family Reunion Visa

American parent to a Hong Kong child...

I am an American with a Hong Kong child. I am not married to her mother. Is it possible that I can apply a Q to take my daughter to visit her great-grandparents in Beijing?

I'm currently in Hong Kong on a tourist visa.

Nick, if your child has HK passport, you cannot apply for a Chinese Q type. But if your child has Chinese passport, it's possible that you can apply a Q, and take her to visit her great-grandparents in Beijing. You can have a try.

She has an American passport. What are my other options to take her for an extended visit? If there isn't any, what about a short visit?

If so, you can try to apply for an Chinese tourist L type with 10-year validity from the China embassy or consulate in your country.
