Criminal Background Check While Living Abroad

I am an UK citizen that has been living in the US for that last 3 years. I am in the process of apply for my visa to move to China to teach English. Do I need a criminal record check from the US and the UK?

Hi, if you will apply for the work Z type in USA, personally I think you need a criminal record check from the USA for the application.

You‘d better get a criminal background check in the UK. The police clearance certificate is subject to notarization and authentication. So does your bachelor degree certificate. Carrying the documents you can come to China to apply for a work permit license with the employing company's help.
Step by step, get the work permit and the residence permit for work.

Make sure you have a long enough visa (of course you can have it extended during your stay in China) since it takes quite a long time to get the final work visa.
If your visa is longer enough, you can have it converted to Residence permit for work without leaving China mainland.
