Do I need to apply for the 144 free transit if I'm only transferring flights through Shanghai? (Not leaving the airport)

Hi, if you fly to a third country or region different from the last one you come from after transiting in Shanghai, and if your passport is from one of the 53 qualifying countries, you can enjoy the 144 hr free transit in Shanghai. No visa is needed.
