About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

72 hrs visa. Hi! I am a Hong Kong resident and im traveling over the weekend to Beijing.

I will be there less then 72 hours. does that mean that I will get the 72 hours free transit at the Beijing airport?

If you have HK passport and Hongkong & Macau citizen's return permit, you don't need to apply for a visa for the trip in mainland China.

Unfortunately, I don’t have te HK passport nor the return permit. I’m a European citizen but I’m studying in HK and am thus considered a resident. Does that mean that I don’t fulfill the requirements?

When you travel Hong Kong - Beijing - Hong Kong you´re not eligible for the 144h twov as it´s not a transit and you have to apply for a tourist visa in advance.
But Hong kong - Beijing - Macau for example would be fine for the 144h twov.

A visa must be obtained prior to travel unless you can do HK-Beijing-Macau-HK.
