About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Utilizing the 144hr free transit

Our current plans are Indonesia---Beijing---Japan. I know this is okay.
I am curious if we can do the following Indonesia----Beijing---Shanghai---Osaka or is Honk Kong only allowed because it is considered another region/not mainland china. We really want to see shanghai as well but don't want to spend the extra 130 a piece for a visa for 8 people. If not allowed we might settle for Hong Kong.
If so this would be allowed correct? Indonesia---Beijing---Hong Kong---Japan.

Hi, Francisco, the trip of Indonesia----Beijing---Shanghai---Osaka limits you to the 24 hr direct transit in mainland China, which means you can only stay in Beijing and Shanghai for no longer than 24 hours. But you can enjoy 144 hr free transit in Beijing and Shanghai respectively if you would travel like Indonesia----Beijing---HK---Shanghai---Osaka.
