How much in cash in notes US$ or other currencies may I bring into China?

China Customs stipulates that each person can carry a maximum of 2,0000 RMB or 5000 Dollars. The excess money needs to be declared in written form. Please try not to exceed the amount, and the excess may be subject to taxation, fines or confiscation.
