VOA, 144 free transit or required visa through travel agent

Hi i am a Canadian and would like to go to Guangzhou for business for 10 days. I have applied for Chinese entry permit but it has been so long that my passport is still with the China Embassy in Ottawa. So, can i use VOA in Hainan to go to Guangzhou or will the Travel Agency help me getting the required entry permit in Hainan? Or can i use 144 free transit when come to beijing? Thanks

You cannot use VOA in Hainan. You cannot use 144 hours free transit if you are travelling via Beijing (two stops in China immediately limits you to 24 hours if you don't have a visa). Your best plan is to get a Chinese visa. If you don't have a visa, an alternative is to fly like Country A - Guangzhou (72 hours) - Hong Kong - Guangzhou (72 hours) - Country A or B, you can have 72 hours free transit in Guangzhou in both directions. Country A and/or B must not be China or Hong Kong. You must also fly between Guangzhou and Hong Kong in both directions.
