About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visiting Shanghai. do we need a visa.

We are going on a cruise and fly from Manchester to Shanghai where we board the ship. We have 3 nights staying in Shanghai before we embark onto the cruise ship, is this called in transit

It depends on your exact itinerary. I didn't think there was a non-stop flight from Manchester to Shanghai. If your flight has another stop in China then you will definitely need a visa.

Hi Rob, thanks for your reply, our flight from Manchester to Shanghai isn't direct, but the touch down will not be in China. We haven't got the exact flight or times yet as we do not go until November. When we get this information will it be worth asking the question again. The only information we have got so far is arriving Shanghai on the 8th November, staying in a hotel and embarking the cruise ship on the 11th November.
