What is an "onward ticket with confirmed seat and date"?

My onward ticket is an e-ticket showing a confirmation number, flight number and date, the class of my flight but no seat number? Can you confirm what you mean by "confirmed seat and date"? Is my confirmed e-ticket enough as it is ? Or do I need some other kind of document?
Many Thanks,

A "confirmed seat" means that the airline will guarantee you a seat when checking-in. This is the case for most ticket types nowadays, except for free airline employee passes which allow them to travel on standby. So if you have paid for your ticket with money or miles on a particular flight, you will get a confirmed ticket and a confirmed seat.
