Visa requirements if only in Shanghai for 2 days

Traveling from Perth to Shanghai to go on a cruise. We are staying about 48 hours in Shanghai, do we require a visa

Andrew, if the next stop after Shanghai is not Australia, you can enjoy 144 h free transit in Shanghai, and no visa is needed.
