Maximum length per entry on multi entry visa

As an Australian citizen, if I purchase a 12-month Multi-Entry visa, what is the maximum amount of time I can remain in China on each visit?

That depends on the duration of each stay on your visa. Usually, the duration will be 30 day, 60 days or 90 days.
