US CITIZEN FLING TO THAILAND

I have a 23 hr layover in Shenzhen, do I need a visa and can I leave the airport to explore?

Yes, you need to apply for a visa for Shenzhen beforehand. Then you can leave the airport to explore the city with valid visa.
