Do we need a visa for Shanghai China?

We are leaving the United States on August 22,2018,arriving in Shanghai on August 23,2018. Embarking on Majestic Princess on August 24, 2018 at 6:00pm. Do we need a visa for Shanghai China?

If your next stop after Shanghai is not USA, you can apply for Shanghai 144 hr free transit, and no need to apply for a visa for that.

If you qualify for the free transit, you can apply for it at the Shanghai immigration counter upon arrival.
